CTRL is an intriguing thriller that dives deep into the consequences of relying too much on technology. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the movie follows Nella Awasthi (played by Ananya Panday), a social media influencer who spirals into chaos after discovering her boyfriend Joe's (Vihaan Samat) betrayal. In an attempt to remove him from her life, she turns to an AI app, but things quickly get out of control.
What I found most engaging about CTRL is how it explores our growing dependency on digital tools, especially AI, in ways we often don't consider. Nella's journey is both captivating and cautionary, showing how the very technology we use to simplify our lives can take over if we're not careful. Ananya Panday delivers a strong performance, capturing the vulnerability of her character as she gets more entangled with the AI. Vihaan Samat also brings depth to Joe's character, adding to the tension between the two leads.
The film’s use of technology is clever—most of the story unfolds through screens, texts, and online interactions, which makes the film feel very relevant to today’s world. This screen-life format really pulls you into Nella's digital life and shows how easily things can spiral out of control when the digital world merges with reality.
While CTRL is effective as a cautionary tale, some of the thriller elements could have been sharper. Certain moments feel a bit predictable, and the film slows down at times. Still, the overall concept is compelling, especially in today’s tech-driven society.
If you enjoy thought-provoking films about the impact of technology on our lives, CTRL is definitely worth watching. It’s an unsettling reminder of how dependent we've become on technology and the dangers of letting it dictate too much of our personal lives.
