Obsession movie review - The Year's Most Unsettling Horror Surprise

Obsession is one of those horror films that starts with a simple premise and gradually spirals into something deeply disturbing. The story follows a lonely young man whose desperate wish for love turns into a terrifying nightmare when his crush develops an unnatural and dangerous fixation on him.

Director Curry Barker blends psychological horror, dark comedy, and body horror to create an unsettling experience that keeps viewers on edge. The film succeeds in exploring themes of loneliness, unhealthy relationships, and obsession without losing its entertainment value. Michael Johnston delivers a convincing performance as the overwhelmed protagonist, while Inde Navarrette brings intensity and unpredictability to her role.

The movie's practical effects, eerie atmosphere, and unexpected twists make it stand out from typical horror releases. While some scenes may feel excessive, the tension rarely lets up.

Rating: Good  18+ movie

A creepy, entertaining horror thriller that proves some wishes are better left unmade.
